The first 3-D item of the series makes it debut today. The inspiration for the holder came from the shower gel bottle itself. The bright green screamed green foil to me. The bottle has gold deer on it so thought I would repeat that. The holder itself was inspired by a mini hand sanitizer holder that I received from fellow demonstrator and friend, Jena Carr.
Let me tell you, even though I had a basic design to start with, my container was taller, wider and thicker than the mini hand sanitizer was. I started with Scrap paper to adjust the dimensions of the paper and score lines. After three tries, I finally got it right but still had to make an adjustment to cut down the side flaps a 1/2" on each side after the tabs were cut (see the 2nd picture above where the two tabs look longer than the rest of the side). Since the foil paper is white on one side, I lined the inside of the box so that it would be green versus white behind the bottle.
Cut paper to 5 1/4" x 7 1/4"
Score 5 1/4" side at 1 1/2" & 3 3/4"
Score 7 1/4" side at 1 1/2" & 2 1/2"
After scoring cut in the score lines on the long side to create tabs. Then fold those tabs in so that you can trim 1/2" off each long side (the tab needs the extra to match with the front flap. Cut down the top side as at an angle to "open" the box up a little. See the 2nd picture with how the box looked before it was put together.
